Five Steps of the Writing Process
Five Steps of the Writing ProcessIt can be useful to go through a basic set of five steps of the writing process so that you know what to expect when starting a paper. Here is a list of the five steps:- Need to start a draft of your essay or any other paper. Think about how you are going to begin writing and keep it in mind as you write your article or any other document. Even if you have a rough idea of what you want to say, you should at least have a basic outline of the format of your document before starting to write.- Determine how you are going to go about writing your article. If you want to use one article software such as Microsoft Word, you may want to create a new draft first. This is an excellent idea because it allows you to get your writing format down. It is also a good idea to think about the end product that you want your article to have. Do you want to sell something or make a comment on an issue?- Once you have finished your draft, you need to proofread it carefull y. If there are any errors in the paper you are about to submit, you will know right away. You can save time by making sure that the grammar and spelling of your essay is correct and that your word usage is proper.- Look for typos and errors in your document. If you find one, make sure to get rid of it immediately. You should always try to avoid having to edit or proofread your own work so that you will not be tempted to fix a mistake after the fact. When you notice something wrong with your document, it is often best to send it back to you editor at the publisher or company for correction.- The next step in the process is to read your paper aloud. This will let you hear how well you are doing and improve upon your ability to write the best essay possible. Be sure to ask others for feedback as well. Sometimes a few other people can improve on your writing and give you a better feel for how you are doing overall.- The third step is to edit your essay as needed. Before sending it off, go through your document and make sure there are no problems. Always put your essay into paper format so that you can see the differences between the original document and the final version.- The final step is to look at your paper and see how well you did. If you feel it needs improvement, you can go back and tweak your essay until you are satisfied with it. Remember, the purpose of the writing process is to improve your skills at writing as well as writing with clarity and ease.
